Review of Fuel:One - Whey Build

This post is a compilation of the feedback we received in addition to our personal views on "Whey Build" a whey protein blend by Fuel:One. Like most of you, we have only been using the product for the past two months so this is basically just initial thoughts on the product. We'll post a follow up review in a few months.

Whey Build is a lean protein delivering 24g of Protein per serving with only 130 Calories, 2g Fat, 4g Carbs and 2g Sugar. It is marketed as ultra-clean, made for athletes and contains no fillers.

We summarised the feedback into just a few major categories as follows;

Cost: 8/10

This protein cost $520 for a 4lb bottle of 52 Servings which worked out to $10 per serving which in most folks opinion is on the high end but not bad for a quality protein.

Taste: Vanilla 10/10, Chocolate 9/10

We tried both the Vanilla and Chocolate flavours mixed with water and were impressed with both, but the Vanilla seems to be the show stopper. As for the chocolate, while the taste was consistent with what most are used to.

Mixability: Vanilla 10/10, Chocolate 8/10

Both flavours mixed quite easily in water as the powder is made up of very fine loose granules. We got a smooth consistent mix, free of clumps using just a teaspoon. Some responders indicated that the chocolate was much like other chocolate flavoured protein supplements and mixed well using the blender bottle.
One person said "as soon as you remove the lid, you could almost see how easy this thing will mix"

Protein Source(s): 7/10

The product contains a blend of Whey Proteins (Concentrate, Isolate and Hydrolyzed Isolate) for sustained release. This blend allows the protein to be taken at anytime of day. We saw the most benefit from having a serving both pre and post workout. Blends are our favourite as we don't have to buy multiple products for different times during the day.

Most users didn't comment on this area but there's one point we'd like to make which relates to the inclusion of 5.5g Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) and 4g Glutamine as these would count towards the overall protein content. Luckily they listed the amount of each and it's these very beneficial Amino Acids and not Creatine which can pose a problem for some people. Generally we prefer to get our amino acids from a separate supplement and not in our protein powder but, it seems that the inclusion of aminos is the norm with most supplement companies nowadays.

Overall Rating: Vanilla 8.75/10, Chocolate 8/10

Overall we rate Whey Build as great value and quality and probably one of the best supplements on the local market.
